What is XML?
XML is a file with a specific structure that contains information about the products you want to appear in the search engine and serves as the connecting link between the content of your store and Skroutz. Each product in the XML file is accompanied by the corresponding technical specifications necessary for its correct display.
How XML works?
Skroutz regularly "reads" your XML file and updates the displayed information accordingly.
The XML file is linked to Skroutz's internal system and is updated every hour from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., as well as once overnight. These updates are made to keep us informed about the changes you make to your store. Therefore, you should ensure that you update this file whenever there is a change in any product information, such as price, availability, etc.
What are the required fields?
Fields that must be present and completed in your XML file.
| Unique ID | The unique product code |
| Name | Product name or title |
| Product link | The link that leads to the product page in your store. In case you do not have an online store, you should put indicative (dummy) links in valid URL format |
| Image link | The link with the product photo (at least 1000 pixels in one of the two dimensions) |
| Price | The price of the product that is also displayed in your store. In case you do not have an online store in this field, fill in the final selling price including VAT |
| Availability | Availability, the delivery time of the product |
| Category path | Product category which must contain the entire path up to the subcategory of the product |
| Manufacturer | The brand or otherwise the manufacturer of the product |
| MPN (Part Number) | It is the unique code that the manufacturer gives to the product and must be filled in the MPN field in the XML file |
| Weight | For stores that participate without an eshop on our platform, they must fill in the volumetric weight of the product, in case this is greater than the actual weight |
| Description | The description of the product. The product description must include all available additional information that is not included in the title |
| Barcode / EAN | The international item number |
| Quantity | The available quantity of the product. This field must list the available units for sale for each product. This field accepts integer values greater than or equal to 0 and less than 10000000. If the product is not available, then the appropriate value is 0 |
What are the optional fields?
Fields that must be completed as appropriate
| Size | Product size |
| Size Variations | Product size variations are completed in case basic product elements (e.g. Availability, quantity, price) change based on size |
| Color | Product color |
| Additional images | Links to additional product photos. Additional photos must include different angles or illustrations of product details |
| Shipping cost | Product shipping. This field is optionally completed by stores that participate with their eshop on our platform |
| ISBN | Unique book number |
| VAT Rate | The VAT rate of the product |
👉 You can also browse all Technical Specifications by Category here.
Note: The instock and category_id fields are deprecated. The platform no longer derives information from them, so their presence in your XML has no impact on synchronization and you can omit them.
Which fields are needed depending on my product category?
Depending on the categories to which your products belong, the corresponding fields must be completed. If a field is necessary for some of your products, while for others it is not, the field must be present in all products in the XML file but be empty in those that do not have the corresponding information.
More information can be found by selecting the corresponding category or subcategory, in the Technical Specifications per category. This section is constantly enriched with new categories.
In case the information required for a specific product category is not posted, you can send us a relevant update, so that we can guide you.
How can I check the quality of my XML and monitor updates?
By selecting "Products" -> "Product Updates" you can:
🧩 Check the mapping of your XML fields
The Mapping function shows you which of the required fields in your XML are connected correctly (e.g. EAN, Name, Image, Code, etc.). If a field is not connected, you will see it with a relevant label and you can follow instructions to fix it. This ensures that your products are displayed correctly in Skroutz.
📈 Track XML updates
The Update History section shows when each update was made, how many products were updated, which ones were rejected and the overall success of each update. It is automatically updated every hour (08:00–00:00 and once in the morning) so that you can immediately identify potential problems.
With these two checks, you ensure that your XML remains complete, up-to-date and in excellent condition!
